Primary Function: The job of Senior Software Support Analyst is done for the purpose/s of supporting customer use of enterprise software applications that allow the district to maintain its business and student records; leading project teams for new software, including definition of requirements, facilitation of user and project team communication, and monitoring the project life cycle; providing guidance and expertise to programmers and analysts; performing long-range systems analysis and proposals for upgrades and system change; providing remote technical assistance to building and district clerical, instructional, administrative and support staff members; and providing suggestions when upgrades or system changes are needed. This position primarily supports the district’s Student Information System (SIS) but may also support other student-related business software applications.

   

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:

Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.

2. Experience:

Equivalent work experience in computer science or software engineering and four years of

increasingly responsible experience in application support with lead experience desirable; experience working with databases desirable; any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Analyzes and defines user problems in the district and coordinates with users to identify problems for the purpose of creating reliable technology solutions that increase employee productivity.

3.

Assists the database administrator for the purpose of maintaining database operation at peak performance, protecting district information, and maintaining integrity of data.

4.

Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. workshops, in-services, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

5.

Creates curricula and conducts training classes for the purpose of increasing employee competencies with enterprise applications.

6.

Creates queries and reports for the purpose of providing timely and accurate information to customers.

7.

Ensures that all state and federal reporting expectations are satisfied for the purpose of ensuring district compliance with mandatory government requirements.

8.

Facilitates project communications with management, developers, and users for the purpose of having a common understanding of project results.

9.

Leads in the development and documentation of software functionality for the purpose of ensuring ease of product use and delivering uniform and consistent packages to users.

10.

Learns a variety of new software and enhancements and maintain current knowledge of trends, developments, and products in the software field for the purpose of providing technical support to users and informing department staff and management of trends to assist in decision-making on hardware and software purchases and software development.

11.

Manages enterprise software by ensuring patches are applied in a coordinated and timely manner for the purpose of creating reliable technology solutions that increase employee productivity.

12.

Manages software requirement definitions for the purpose of complying with district, state, and federal policy and conforming to established department software standards, incorporating requirements into project solution while promoting realistic user expectations.

13.

Organizes and manages project requirements, scope and schedule (e.g. coordinates impact of state and federal requirements and shifts in district priority or resources; understands project priorities, information requirements, schedules, and personnel; resolves problems, adjusts priorities, and schedules as necessary, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring successful project implementations.

14.

Participates in long range planning, technology research and future systems planning analysis for the purpose of maintaining modern, highly effective systems for customer experience and productivity.

15.

Provides a variety of guidance, direction, and training to a less experienced staff as needed, including providing technical advice to non-technical staff at a level consistent with user’s expertise for the purpose of providing support to other staff and to ensure completion of projects within established guidelines.

16.

Receives work orders of varying complexity and resolves or escalates as needed for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective workflow process.

17.

Researches, analyzes, tests, implements and maintains computer software solutions for the purpose of tracking and utilizing student and business data, troubleshooting problems and errors in software and improve data processing efficiency and user satisfaction.

18.

Serves on a variety of district committees (e.g. representing the Division of Information Services and Department of Enterprise Technology, etc.) for the purpose of performing related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position as assigned.

19.

Works with vendor partners (e.g. serves as a point of contact; provides a variety of advice and counsel; promotes teamwork; facilitates problem resolution, etc.) for the purpose of resolving software issues and meeting project requirements.

20.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
