Primary Function: The job of Purchasing Technician - SNP is done for the purpose/s of researching and acquiring the necessary commodities and/or services to support district operations; ensuring that district revenues are effectively utilized; providing instruction and guidance on order processing; providing documentation for audit trail of decision making and meeting required procurement regulations.

  

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:

Minimum High School Diploma/GED

2. Experience:

Job related experience is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Builds, monitors, and maintains yearly vendor’s price contracts for the purpose of ensuring items ordered match bid items and prices charged are correct.

3.

Coordinates with vendors for the purpose of ensuring purchases are within district guidelines, items requested are met, and subs, when needed, are approved.

4.

Enters purchase requests for food, equipment, and supplies into the district's and state's operating systems for the purpose of meeting order requests.

5.

Maintains items in SNP's software system for the purpose of processing and receiving purposes.

6.

Maintains the purchases made from the approved contracts for the purpose of ensuring ongoing availability of goods/services per the contract and adherence to contract terms and conditions.

7.

Maintains documents, files, and records (e.g. Requests for Proposal, purchase orders, vendor files, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.

8.

Manages required processes (e.g. orders and requisitions for food and supplies, allocation of potential commodities, services, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring necessary resources to support district operations.

9.

Monitors monthly inventory of received and used products for the purpose of completing monthly closeout.

10.

Participates in departmental meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

11.

Performs customer service duties in accepting calls daily from managers for the purpose of sending and processing add-on orders, troubleshoot orders and deliveries, etc.

12.

Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.

13.

Presents information on administrative tasks (e.g. procedures, services, regulations, etc.) for the purpose of training and orienting other personnel and/or disseminating information to appropriate parties.

14.

Procures food, both purchased and USDA, and supplies for the purpose of maintaining an adequate inventory for providing nutritional services efficiently and within established budget guidelines at assigned sites.

15.

Researches and evaluates new products for the purpose of ensuring conformity to regulations and budgetary guidelines.

16.

Works with the Purchasing Department on the tabulations of bids for food and supplies for the purpose of procuring products for use.

17.

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
