Primary Function: The job of Transportation Operations Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of overseeing and supervising the daily operations of the Transportation Operation Section: Routing, Field Trip, Safety and Training, and Dispatch. The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance of Transportation safety guidelines and requests are met in accordance with Muscogee County School District policies and procedures. This position will act as liaison between Administrators and other parties to communicate and coordinate information on behalf of the Transportation Department to school and district staff, ensuring the completion of requests is reviewed: provide information, address issues and/or providing general support.

    

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:

High School diploma/GED; Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related area preferred.

2. Certification/License Required:

Valid CDL Driver’s License preferred.

3. Experience:

Minimum of three years in database maintenance or closely related work experience required. Experience in computer programming, SWL, and statistical software packages is preferred.

4. Physical Activities:

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Prompt and regular attendance is required to ensure the overall daily goals of the department can be achieved.

2.

Oversee, supervise, and monitor all aspects of the departments routing process and operations including, but not limited to, dispatch, customer service, field trips, and safety training classes for new hires along with training for the current employees.

3.

Coordinate with Transportation Department Staff, Schools and Stakeholders on the start of school protocols pertaining to online registration for bus transportation, routing and distribution of the real bus passes.

4.

Communicate with parents and appropriate school-based staff regarding bus delays, bus no-shows, bus mechanical breakdowns, bus accident delays and student issues.

5.

Oversee the Transportation Departments on-boarding process for new employees.

6.

Maintain, distribute, and update daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other periodic transportation data reports.

7.

Collaborate with third party vendors to resolve software concerns for the purpose of ensuring consistent operation, service upgrades are discussed and met, and cost falls within the budget guidelines.

8.

Provide key performance metric reports and identify areas of service improvements to ensure sustainable customer service execution and all service levels are met.

9.

Work cohesively daily with the Transportation Supervisor staff on all elements of the operation to ensure the overall success of the department.

10.

Receives and respond to telephone calls, personal and department emails, and voice mails for the purpose of notifying appropriate personnel regarding priority situations from schools, parents, and students. 

11.

Communicate with parents, community members, and school/district personnel as needed to resolve issues and concerns.  Work as a liaison for the Transportation Supervisor to resolve parent and school complaints.  Coordinate with schools and the special needs department regarding the coordination of transportation activities.

12.

Respond to bus accidents as needed.  Assist with re-training of bus drivers after an accident. Distribute to all appropriate staff members an Accident/Incident Report.

13.

Liaison between the Department of Information Services, the School Board, City/County Departments, etc. for the exchange of data between the Transportation Department and these partners.

14.

Perform other duties as assigned.
