This posting is to recruit for existing vacancies and/or positions that become available at our various schools for the 2023-2024 school year.
Primary Function: The job of Custodian, Lead is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and the public; providing equipment and furniture for meetings, classroom activities and events; minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure; ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and coordinating assigned custodians in the performance of their assignments.

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; able to work at heights that can be reached on an 8 foot ladder/scaffolding; able to lift up to 50 lbs; lift and move furniture and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
|
2.
|
Attends in-service training (e.g. instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new/improved procedures.
|
3.
|
Cleans assigned facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
|
4.
|
Communicates with occupants of assigned facility for the purpose of providing information regarding safety hazards and maintenance issues.
|
5.
|
Delivers various items (e.g. supplies, packages, mail, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties within site.
|
6.
|
Helps respond to immediate safety and operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety issues.
|
7.
|
Helps arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
|
8.
|
Inspects facilities for the purpose of ensuring site is suitable for safe operation and maintained in attractive, clean condition and identifying any repairs necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
|
9.
|
Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of necessary items.
|
10.
|
Performs work at heights that can be reached on an 8ft ladder / scaffolding for the purpose of cleaning, changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, cleaning light fixture covers and vents.
|
11.
|
Prepares documentation (e.g. service request forms, custodial daily cleaning checklist, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and conveying information.
|
12.
|
Prepares facility for operation (e.g. opens gates and doors, disarms security systems, raises flags, places crosswalk signs, performs minor repairs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and safe.
|
13.
|
Provides guidance, direction and training to other custodial support staff in the building for the purpose of maintaining operational proficiency and enhanced housekeeping standards for assigned facilities.
|
14.
|
Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the school district.
|
15.
|
Services job-related equipment (e.g. adjusts, cleans, and oils vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good, working condition, including changing brushes, pads, rollers, unclogging toilets with plungers, etc.
|
16.
|
Trains assigned personnel for the purpose of developing safety awareness skills.
|
17.
|
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
