Primary Function: The job of General Maintenance Worker, School Based is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities for students, staff and public in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; assisting skilled maintenance workers in performing unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance to resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns.

Written and oral communication; Broad knowledge of hand tools and general repairs; reading blue prints and wiring schematics. Basic Math

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
|
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
|
2.
|
Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
|
3.
|
Cleans gutters, culverts, catch basins and other drainage structures for the purpose of preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.
|
4.
|
Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
|
5.
|
Inspects buildings each day (e.g. broken windows, stopped up commodes, replacing light bulbs, filters, etc.) for the purpose of completing repairs with tools and materials supplied.
|
6.
|
Maintains adequate records of procedures used and personnel procedures for the purpose of providing reliable information.
|
7.
|
Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe, operating condition.
|
8.
|
Performs a variety of maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, glazing, grounds erosion projects, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
|
9.
|
Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
|
10.
|
Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
|
11.
|
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
|
12.
|
Transports various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at building site.
|
13.
|
Works on and repairs various systems (e.g., gauges, pumps, motors, etc.) for the purpose of restoring equipment to good working condition.
|
14.
|
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
