PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develops students' physical skills and abilities by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing students' leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress.
- Assembles and maintains equipment such as volleyball, soccer, badminton, etc.
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, to the extent feasible; teaches physical education classes for exceptional students.
- Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, contribution in sports competition, and social skills; communicates with parents and school staff on students' progress; identifies students' needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Cooperates with school administration in providing specialty performing groups for special occasions, attends PTA meetings and assemblies; supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day; conducts an annual field day event.
- Selects and requisitions supplies, equipment, and instructional aids in concert with county guidelines, and maintains accurate inventory records.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Evaluates student progress in terms of the objectives of the course and grade taught.
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Meets certification and accreditation standards.
- Meets expectations according to the regular elementary teacher job description.
- Seeks to improve through professional development and evaluation activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
