PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides school counseling services to all students.

Master's degree in job related field |
2. Certification/License: |
Valid Georgia S-5 School Counselor certification |
3. Experience: |
3 years successful School Counselor experience. A district level prequalifying interview may be required before school selection process will proceed. |

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive school counseling program based on the needs of the students and the school.
- Assists the School Principal in ensuring that the school's policies and procedures related toschool counseling meet state, federal, and local requirements.
- Manages the daily activities of the school counseling program.
- Coordinates with school staff to provide supportive instructional classroom activities that relate to student academic, career, and personal/social development of students.
- Provides leadership in the implementation of career guidance and counseling and student academic planning; supervises the school's educational and occupational programs.
- Leads and mentors guidance counselors and assigned clerical staff int he day to day operation of the department and conducts regular meetings to disseminate information regarding current developments and practices in the field.
- Supervises the processing of school or college scholarship applications and cooperates with state and private employment agencies in the placement of graduates.
- Schedules meetings with college admissions personnel or college alumni and arranges for student conferences with college representatives.
- Organizes special orientation programs such as College Night, Career Night, etc.
- Counsels with students both individually and in groups.
- Serves as a liaison between the assigned school and community resource groups, feeder schools, colleges, and universities regarding school counseling related activites.
- Conducts and/or participates in professional learning.
- Facilitates the referral of students and parents to internal and external services.
- Participates in school and county committees.
- Coordinates transitional activities with feeder schools.
- Interprets standardized tests and state mandated tests.
- Protects confidentiality of student records and student information.
- Conducts and/or assists with parent meetings.
- Demonstrates professional and ethical practices consistent with school and system policies in working with student, student records, parent, and colleagues.
- Participates in advisement.
- Provides instructions regarding career counseling.
- Evaluates transcripts.
