PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Healthcare Science; assesses and encourages student progress; manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement. 

 

         

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Education Level: 

Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field

2. Certification/License Required:              

Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate or eligibility for GA Teaching Certification in Healthcare Science or Healthcare Science Technology Education (HSTE)

 

AND

 

Hold a current healthcare professional license, registration, or certification that relates to the healthcare field and has been issued by an appropriate governing or regulatory body.

3. Experience:                                

Minimum of Two years of occupational work experience in the healthcare field

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:               

Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management

                                             

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  2. Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  3. Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  4. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals.
  5. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  6. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  7. Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
  8. Directs student teachers, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  9. Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
  10. Maintains the classroom and lab areas for the purpose of meeting state, local and industry standards as required.
  11. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  12. Models conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate industry, social and interpersonal behavior.
  13. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, field trips, conferences etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  14. Organizes age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purpose of ensuring student participation in learning activities.
  15. Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  16. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
  17. Provide co-curricular CTAE Student Organization experiences to students in the CTAE program for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills, and workforce readiness preparation.
  18. Provide whole class and small group instruction for the purpose of presenting the grade and/or content appropriate curriculum, in alignment with the Georgia Performance Standards.
  19. Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
  20. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  21. Responds to questions from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
  22. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
