PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The job of Construction Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of coordinating assigned construction projects and related activities; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:                      

Minimum of Associate’s degree and/or certifications in construction management, project management, engineering and/or architecture. Bachelor’s preferred

2. Certification/License:                  

Valid Driver’s License

3. Experience:                                

Job related experience preferred; preferably in GA K-12 construction.

4. Physical Activities:                      

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; construction process, including role of architect, reading of plans and specifications, and basic building systems.

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing and administering budgets; operating standard office equipment; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records.

    

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; dealing with frequent and sustained interruptions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; facilitating communication between persons with divergent positions; implementing change; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; providing direction and leadership; and setting priorities.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Consults with Director of Construction Department regarding policies, procedures and/or actions on issues that relate to construction projects for the purpose of providing information and/or direction for making decisions within the district construction program.

3.

Coordinates activities with construction team and school personnel (e.g. renovations, inspections, contractor and architect meetings, permitting activities, project close-out and building commission activities, calendars, mandated reports, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that all phases of construction project are completed in compliance with specifications.

4.

Directs project support staff (e.g. construction managers, architects, engineers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that construction and/or renovation projects are completed on time and in compliance with specifications.

5.

Evaluates potential sites and/or condition of existing facilities for the purpose of determining construction and/or renovation requirements.

6.

Monitors project activities (e.g. costs, time and materials, schedules, budgets, change orders, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring district objectives are achieved within budget and timeframes and in compliance with established requirements.

7.

Observes all aspects of construction (e.g. exterior, interior, walls, electrical, roof, concrete, paint, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating compliance with plans and specifications.

8.

Oversees preparation of written materials (e.g. contracts, correspondence, memos, budgets, costs, bid invitations, calendars, schedules, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.

9.

Oversees development of specifications for renovation and modification projects (e.g. educational specifications, cost analysis, project schedules, permits, purchasing/bid time and construction, etc.) for the purpose of providing them to in-house personnel and for selection and awarding contracts.

10.

Responds to inquiries (e.g. administrative staff, local inspectors, contractors, architects, the public, etc.) for the purpose of providing required information and/or referring to appropriate source.

11.

Reviews a variety of construction-related information for the purpose of ensuring completeness of records and insurance claims.

12.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
