PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assists in the instructional program, using ESOL strategies, which enables students to communicate, appreciate cultural diversity, and acquire necessary academic skills and concepts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
- Administers tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language ability.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, student's achievements, methods for improvement, and reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources to improve the overall quality of student outcomes.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Instructs English Language Learner students to improve their success in academics and skills.
- Communicates with parents in all aspects of their child's English Language Services.
- Completes designated procedures for students referred for ESOL service.
- Compiles, maintains, and submits all required records.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Models English communication to develop student ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
- Provides class and small group instruction to present grade and content appropriate curriculum.
- Reports incidents such as fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc. to maintain personal safety of students and provide a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
