Assistant Nutrition Manager (Food Service)

Site Nutrition Manager

 

Primary Function: The job of Assistant Nutrition Manager was established for the purpose/s of assisting food service personnel in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner; providing food services at the assigned site that meets the mandated nutritional needs of students; ensuring availability of quantities of items; providing written support to convey information; and complying with mandated health standards.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:

High School Diploma/GED; successful completion of two of the four Core TID courses or equivalent education. (The remaining Core Courses must be completed at the rate of one every year.)

2. Certification/License Required:

Must be ServSafe Certified or equivalent of National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) course.

3. Experience:

Completion of a minimum three years successful experience as Assistant Manager Trainee, Cashier, Cashier/Culinary Technician or comparable experience; Must meet minimum training for School Nutrition Manager required by Georgia State Standards

4. Physical Activities:

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Assists in providing safe, efficient nutrition services based on HAACP guidelines (e.g. menu plans, etc.) for the purpose of complying with mandated nutritional requirements and health standards.

3.

Attends training classes (e.g. instruction on software implementation, program roll-outs, managerial record-keeping, major daily operational changes, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.

4.

Guides other School Nutrition personnel for the purpose of assisting them in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner.

5.

Inspects and inventories food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and complying with mandated health standards as well as controlling waste labor, inventory and sales.

6.

Manages site operations (e.g. handles money, cash receipts, and deposits money, etc.) for the purpose of providing safe and efficient food services at the assigned site in compliance with mandated nutritional requirements and health standards.

7.

Participates in staff development training (e.g. computer training, annual nutrition managers/assistant nutrition manager’s retreat, state School Nutrition Association conference, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information necessary for efficient, effective implementation of the School Nutrition program.

8.

Performs functions, as required, of other School Nutrition positions (e.g. readily available for refrigeration emergencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing overall coverage of food service operations.

9.

Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and conveying information.

10.

Prepares food and beverage items (e.g. stock foods, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items, etc.) for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements.

11.

Responds to inquiries of students, staff, and the public for the purpose of providing information and direction regarding the type and cost of meals.

12.

Trains employees and evaluates job performance for the purpose of achieving success in the child nutrition program.

13.

Directs assigned personnel, student workers and/or volunteers for the purpose of assisting them in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner.

14.

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
