PRIMARY FUNCTION: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as a K-2 Early Learning Literacy and Numeracy Academy Instructor. This position focuses on teaching the science of reading to young learners in kindergarten through second grade. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, particularly in early literacy development and phonics instruction, and has a high level of emotional intelligence.

 

  Qualifications of the Position:

         

  • Bachelor’s degree with commensurate experience in early childhood education, elementary education, literacy education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in early childhood education or elementary education.
  • Demonstrated success teaching literacy and numeracy skills to young children, preferably in a Pre-K-2 setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based structured literacy and numeracy instruction practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for working with underserved children.
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
  • Three exceptional references (must include current principal/supervisor).

                                           

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

    

  • Design and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate structured literacy and numeracy lessons for Pre-K-2 students.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to teach early literacy, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and numeracy skills.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and motivated to learn.
  • Assess students' academic abilities and progress using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Differentiate & personalize instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including English language learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support students' literacy and numeracy development and address any concerns or challenges.
  • Stay current on research and best practices in early literacy instruction, particularly in the science of reading. Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
