PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The job of Behavior Analyst was developed for the purpose of providing direct services and consultation to students, staff and parents in order to provide positive ways for working successfully with students who fall into the PDD and Autism eligibilities and students demonstrating difficulties conforming to acceptable behavior patterns; implementing and/or overseeing the implementation of procedures for the developing and implementing behavior assessments and intervention plans for students within Muscogee County School District (MCSD); and establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with outside agencies serving District students and their families. This work consists of complex professional duties in order to deliver effective services to students with disabilities and maintain compliance with laws and regulations in this area.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:                      

Master's degree in applied behavioral sciences, psychology, education, or other related fields

2. Certification/License:                  

Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

3. Experience:                                

Teaching experience in the area of Exceptional Student Education working with students with disabilities; Experience working as a behavior specialist in public educaiton classrooms for students with mild to severe Autism and other developmental delays.

4. Physical Activities:                      

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:                

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the individual education process and due process for students with disabilities; knowledge of district procedures manual and Georgia Department of Education Implementation Manual for The Special Education State Rules; good organization and cooperative planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills

                                             

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develops and/or monitors district procedures to assure compliance with governmental regulations, codes, restrictions and reporting requirements concerning writing IEPs, taking data, appropriate instruction, functional behavior assessment, behavioral intervention plans and emergencies for the purpose of ensuring compliance for all district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Processes referrals and respond to referrals of students for varied eligibilities and behavior intervention services for the purpose of ensuring compliance for all district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessment and/or functional analysis and collaborate with site staff in the development of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan (PBIP) for the purpose of reducing inappropriate student behaviors and increasing student performance.
  • Develops and/or conducts behavior training to staff and parents in areas of expertise including development and implementation of effective behavior interventions including training specific to individual students, nonviolent crises intervention and behavior case management for the purpose of reducing inappropriate student behaviors and increasing student performance.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of effective programs for children with autism and serious disturbances of behavior for the purpose of increasing student performance.
  • Consults with school staff(s) and parents/guardians on matters related to Autism and behavior for the purpose of improving student outcomes and ensuring compliance for all district, state, and federal requirements.
  • In consultation with site administrators and the Director, Programs for Exceptional Students, participates in the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff for the purpose of ensuring highly qualified staff are maintained.
  • Assists in coordinating staff professional development activities for the purpose of ensuring program effectiveness and progress toward stated goals.
  • Participates in the development of ongoing relationships with other agencies serving students with disabilities (i.e.; Regional Center, Non-Public Schools and Agencies) for the purpose of improving student outcomes and ensuring compliance for all district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participates in Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings as a consultant and for the purpose of developing and monitoring Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
  • Prepares a variety of professionally written documents and reports in a timely manner for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
