Primary Function: The job of Bus Monitor assists students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS:

1. Educational Level:
|
High School Diploma or GED
|
2. Certification/License Required:
|
None
|
3. Experience:
|
Job related experience desired.
|
4. Physical Activities:
|
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; lifting, bending, standing, ability to lift and move equipment and/or student weighing 40 pounds
|

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
|
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
|
2.
|
Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus and within loading and unloading zones for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers.
|
3.
|
Assists students for the purpose of providing for Pre-K or special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport.
|
4.
|
Attends meetings (e.g. training, D.O.E. mandate, first aid and CPR, in service, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information to perform job functions.
|
5.
|
Instructs students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining safety.
|
6.
|
Monitors Pre-K students or students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the students safety.
|
7.
|
Monitors students (e.g. unruly, disruptive, abusive language, etc.) for the purpose of preventing distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other students/passengers.
|
8.
|
Prepares documentation (e.g. incident reports, inspections, student count, passenger misconduct, mileage, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
|
9.
|
Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
|

|
Secures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
